Terms of use

Canthion ("we", "the service") provides descriptive measurements of facial proportions and skin appearance computed from photographs you supply, compared against published population averages, together with a literature-graded summary of interventions. By using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

The service is provided "as is". We make no warranty that any measurement is accurate to a particular tolerance beyond the stated uncertainty, that the reference tables suit your particular ancestry, or that any recommendation will produce any result. To the maximum extent permitted by law we exclude liability for any loss arising from use of, or reliance on, the service. Where liability cannot be excluded it is limited to the amount you paid us in the preceding 12 months.

You may not use the service to analyse a photograph of anyone without their consent, to harass or judge others, or in breach of any law. You may not resell, scrape or reverse-engineer the service or its norm tables. We may change or withdraw the service at any time; paid reports remain accessible on the device or account they were unlocked on for as long as the service exists.

Not medical advice

Canthion is not a medical device, is not operated by physicians, and does not provide medical, dermatological, surgical, dental, psychological or nutritional advice. Nothing in a report is a diagnosis or a treatment plan. Where a report describes a clinical procedure it does so as general, neutrally-worded information drawn from the published literature, and always with the instruction to consult a licensed professional. Do not start, stop or change any treatment on the basis of a report. If a report includes remarks about facial adiposity or weight, these are visual, statistical descriptions — not a health assessment. If looking at your face this closely is affecting your wellbeing, stop; the crisis line is in the footer of every page.

AI mock-ups and projections

The "Your potential" images and any on-device projections are illustrations, not measurements and not promises. They are produced from your photo by a generative image model (currently Google's Gemini) following text instructions that describe non-surgical grooming, skincare, eyewear and photography changes, with instructions to preserve your bone structure and identity. Generative models are imperfect: a rendering may drift in ways we did not ask for, may not be achievable exactly, and does not predict how you will look after any product, procedure or routine. No result is guaranteed. Do not use a rendering as a basis for a medical, surgical or cosmetic-procedure decision; use it only as a visual sketch of a grooming direction. You must own the photo you upload and be the person in it (or have that person's consent). Renders are capped per report and are not stored by us; a crop of your photo is transmitted to the model provider only when you open that section (see Privacy).

Scores, wellbeing and limits

Scores, grades and axis positions describe where measured proportions sit relative to published reference distributions. They are not a judgement of worth, do not predict how any individual will perceive you, and carry the uncertainty stated beside each value. Roughly 40% of the variance in facial-attractiveness judgements is idiosyncratic to the rater. If you experience persistent distress about your appearance, please speak with a licensed clinician; the report includes crisis resources for that reason. We reserve the right to refuse or refund service where the product is being used in a way that appears harmful to the user.

Age

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live, if higher) to use the service or purchase a report, and you confirm that you are by using it. Reports must not be generated for, or gifted to, minors. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Privacy

Your photograph never leaves your device. Landmark detection, measurement, skin analysis, the before/after morph and the written report are all computed in your browser. We do not upload, store, or train on your images. You can verify this in your browser's Network tab — instructions here.

What we do collect: (1) anonymous usage events — a random visitor id, a per-visit session id, page and step names, scroll depth, referrer bucket or ?src= tag, and coarse timing — used only to see where people drop off; no cookies, no cross-site tracking, and we honour Do-Not-Track; (2) if you sign in, your email address and any reports you choose to save (numbers only — never the photo); (3) if you buy, Stripe processes your payment and shares with us only what's needed to unlock your purchase; we never see your card number; (4) if you leave your email for a waiting list or a gift, that email and its source. You can ask us to delete any of this at hello@canthion.com. Data is stored with Supabase (US-East). We don't sell data, ever.

Refunds

Full refund within 14 days of purchase, no reason required — email hello@canthion.com from the address you used, or reply to your Stripe receipt. Using the report does not void your refund right. Gift codes are refundable within 14 days if unredeemed.

Gifts

A gift purchase issues a single-use code that unlocks one report tier on the recipient's device (or account, if they sign in). We do not email recipients automatically; the buyer sends the code. Codes don't expire. Gift purchases are subject to the age term above.

Copyright & attribution

© Canthion. The site, report templates, illustrations, methodology text and norm compilations are our copyright. Reports are for the personal use of the person whose face they describe. Landmark detection uses Google's MediaPipe Face Landmarker (Apache-2.0), self-hosted; norm tables are transcribed from the cited anthropometric literature with sources listed on every metric page. "Qoves", "Umax" and "LooksMax AI" are the marks of their respective owners and are referenced only for comparison.
